Lecture History
A brief summary of the training lectures offered.
The first class for the Radio System Design course was with CEI-Eurppe in Barcelona in 2004. It was also run with Besser Associates in the USA, starting in San Jose 2006. Since then the course has updated with technological changes, particularly with respect to 4, 5 and 6G mobile radio innovations. Also supplemented with basic ideas on the use of DSP (digital signal processing) in 2010.
In response to more and more interest in the DSP aspects, the two courses were re-written in 2018; one to focus on the Essentials of Radio System Design, incorporating the key aspects of the original course and the general application of DSP to radio systems, and the other focusing the application of DSP to radio systems via SDR (software defined radio). The SDR course also adopted a ‘Hands ‘On’ approach, using real radio hardware and open source software to illustrates the key elements of SDR so that students could work with hardware, digits and software to better understand the important concepts.
Over the years the various courses have been given throughout North America and Europe. From San Francisco to Dresden and from Ottawa to Nice. Some have been to specific customers travelling to their site while others are public registrations open to several organisations at the same time.
All in all, almost 50 courses with probably 500 participants have been given over the years. A wide diversity of companies with interesting applications, lots of great feedback and valuable discussions.
